Krankbrothers
Danny Clancy and Kieran Clancy are the founders, organisers and resident DJs at krankbrother. Evolving from a private party in Corsica Studios, the last couple of years have seen them develop krankbrother into one of the most cutting edge parties in the capital. The brothers ensure that every party they throw focuses on unique locations, fresh underground music and an intimate party vibe, ensuring that they stand out as promoters. Over the years they've thrown parties in venues as diverse as a Caribbean shack, a disused pub, railway arches, numerous rooftops, a disused theatre and photography studios - and their crowd have loved getting down in these weird and wonderful spots. They always emphasize the unexpected at each event, and the diverse, friendly and beautiful party people that have become regulars have made the party unique on London's underground scene.
Kieran and Danny's mutual love of electronic music has always been central to the ethos of their parties. There's always a leaning towards bass driven rhythms - whether it's dark and foreboding techno or groove driven deep house. Although they are both DJs within their own rights, the true sound of their parties comes when they are playing straight back to back as krankbrothers - with Kieran's love of harder basslines and crunching snares offset by Dan's penchant for vocals, synths and funk. Their sound has shaped their parties, and the parties have shaped their sound with particular influence being drawn from the many acts they've been lucky enough to play alongside such as DJ T, Lee Foss, Pan-Pot, Dyed Soundorom, Ivan Smagghe and Nic Fancuilli.
The future looks bright for the brothers - with some amazing krankbrother parties and gigs coming up both in the UK and Europe, their own venue in the pipeline, and the launch of a DJ booking agency in 2011.
